Everest Base Camp and Singalila Trek

This is combination of two treks. The regions are very different and yet interlinked in some ways. Many of the people of Darjeeling migrated from Nepal and the Sherpas of Darjeeling actually came here to assist with the early climbs of various mountains - as the Darjeeling was the base from where may expeditions departed before 1950.

We begin our journey in Darjeeling - which is a wonderful introduction to the Himalaya and its peoples. Here we explore the town on a walking tour and then head for the trek along the Singalila ridge for views of Mt. Everest and other 8000m high peaks. As the highest point on this trek is only 3636m, it is also a good acclimatisation trek to prepare us for trek to the Base Camp of Mt. Everest Nepal.

The trek to the Everest Base Camp of Nepal is more demanding and busy. Since Nepal is one of the world's top trekking destinations, this particular route is well catered for and busy. Having said that - the trek is well worth it for the spectacular landscape and the very hospitable Sherpa people. You see stunning mountains like, Ama Dablam, Kantega, Nuptse and Mt. Everest. The highest point on this section of the trek is 5545m.
