Guiche La & Green Lake Trek

This is a combination of two treks. This trek takes you to relatively close to the two faces of Kangchenjunga the world's third highest mountain.

You do need to be reasonably fit for this trek as it is quite demanding. It not only requires you allow time for acclimatisation to the high altitude but also the walk is quite demanding as the first two days of the trek is straight uphill through forests until you get to the alpine region of Dzongri at 40430m. The views from here are spectacular and the gradient of the trail is not so steep beyond Dzongri.

It is of course quite demanding on the morning you head for Guiche-la to catch the stunning colours on Kangchenjunga at sunrise.

After this trek we head to Gangtok to the Capital of Sikkim, from where we drive north close the Tibetan border of Lachen where it is said that they still practise polyandry. This region has become a popular destination for Indian tourists who travel there by the jeep loads. But once you begin to trek, you leave all behind and have the pristine landscape all to yourself, your support team and others with similar interests.

Your trek ends at Green Lake (there is no lake there!), from where you have stunning mountain views including that of Kangchenjunga.
