Sikkim Green Lake Trek
Our trek to Green Lake in Sikkim takes you to a region that has seen less than 5000 westerners. The trek takes you on a route used by mountaineers to climb Kangchenjunga - the world's third highest mountain. It is a restricted area and requires special permits to trek here. The trek and mountain views are spectacular. You trek through forests of rhododendron and past stunning glaciers, occasionally scrambling through rough paths.
Our trip starts in Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim. After a day's exploration of this fascinating Buddhist centre we drive to the village of Larchen in the north of Sikkim. From Larchen we trek through thick forests following the valley of the Zemu Chu (river) to its source of the Zemu glacier. It is here in the great glaciated bowl on the northeast flank of Kangchenjunga and surrounded by the spectacular peaks of Siniolchu (6878m), Sugarloaf (6455m), Tent (7365m) and Nepal (7168m) that we camp near to Green Lake (which, incidentally, is dry!). We return to Larchen and then Gangtok by our inbound route. This trip finishes in Gangtok

To join this trip, one has too book at least 5 months in advance as you need to get special permits that some times takes 3 months to clear.
